The Strawberry Letter: My Boyfriend Has 2 Children With Best Friends

Dear Steve and Shirley,

I'm dating a man who has two four-year-old sons—both from two different women who happen to be his best friends. He got them both pregnant while secretly seeing them at the same time, and now, they are all still friends. I've been dating him for seven months, and he just now decided to tell me about his children and how things went down.

This is a major red flag for me, but it gets even crazier—both of his sons' mothers have actually tried to convince me to stay with him! I feel like I’m entering some kind of cult because, surprisingly, I really like both of these women. I truly feel like we could all be close friends.

Needless to say, I completely understand why they were both hooked on him—because he is heavenly in bed. It’s an out-of-body experience every time. He’s fit, chocolate, and always naked at home. He’s just... addictive.

I’ve talked to the moms, and they both take full accountability for what happened. At the time, he was in a relationship with one of them, and the other was a side chick. The first baby mama admitted that she blames herself for talking her friend into sleeping with him and even allowing a threesome to happen. The second baby mama confessed that she enjoyed the threesome way more than she expected, and she knew she was wrong—but she kept secretly seeing him anyway.

Shockingly, neither of them blames him for anything. It’s like one big, happy family. Meanwhile, my man told me that he can already tell I’m his soulmate and that he wants to marry me—but also made it very clear that we should never have a threesome. I didn’t find that funny.

I do love his sons, and he wants to have more children with me. But should I stay in this crazy, cult-like relationship as long as things don’t spiral out of control? Or should I run for the hills before it gets even messier?
