The Miami Beach Police Department caused a stir on social media by unveiling a custom Rolls-Royce police car as part of its latest recruitment tool.

"Crafted with Precision: Miami Beach police officers and professional staff exemplify the highest standards of dedication and quality policing in our unparalleled commitment to the residents and visitors we serve," the department wrote in an Instagram reel showcasing the vehicle.

The department unveiled a 2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost, originally priced at $250,000, during a media event at its South Beach headquarters Thursday (May 9) afternoon. The department claimed the ultra-luxury car was provided by Braman Motors, which “sponsored all costs associated with this project.”

"Note: This vehicle is part of Braman Motors’ fleet, and Braman Motors has sponsored all costs associated with this project in accordance with the CMB Policy," the department wrote in its Instagram post.

Several social media users criticized the rollout, which included one commenter claiming they didn't "think this is a good look for the police department."

“This is where all the money goes to, huh,” another user wrote.

Miami Beach Police Department public information officer Christopher Bess told the Miami Herald that taxpayers didn't fund the costs for the luxury police vehicle, once again claiming it was being loaned by Braman Motors and would be returned while maintenance would be paid by the dealership. The department could, however, be liable to pay for any potential damages to the vehicle as the city drafted a certificate of insurance.

“We have not absorbed any cost for this vehicle,” Bess said via the Miami Herald. “Miami Beach taxpayers didn’t pay anything for this.”
