YoungBoy Never Broke Again is set to be released from prison sooner than expected.

According to court records, the Louisiana native, born Kentrell Gaulden, is scheduled to walk out of prison on July 27. The date is significantly sooner than the nearly two-year prison sentence he received last month after he agreed to a plea deal. YB pleaded guilty to two separate gun charges, one from his 2021 Louisiana case and the other for possessing weapons during his arrest in Utah last fall. The Richest Opp rapper was on house arrest while awaiting trial for his Louisiana case when police apprehended him in connection to a prescription drug fraud case.

YB was initially charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in 2021 after police discovered him with two guns during a music video shoot in Baton Rouge. He eventually got the case moved to Utah after he relocated to Millcreek near Salt Lake City. He continued to await trial while under house arrest in his mansion.

While he was under supervised release, the 25-year-old rapper became involved in a prescription drug fraud ring in which he allegedly posed as a doctor and ordered prescriptions to be filled at various pharmacies across the state. He was eventually caught following a federal investigation and was charged with 63 offenses. As part of his plea deal, YB pleaded guilty to the gun charges as well as two counts of third-degree felony identity fraud, two counts of third-degree felony forgery, and six counts of misdemeanor unlawful pharmacy conduct. He pleaded no contest to the rest of the charges.

As Billboard notes, the 25-year-old artist most likely received time served for the months he spent behind bars awaiting trial. It's not clear if YB will be released to a halfway house or will immediately begin his supervised release. Either way, he's getting closer to putting his years-long legal issues completely behind him.
