A lawyer for Adria English, one of several women who accused Diddy of sex trafficking, wants to withdraw from the case due to a slew of issues they've experienced over the past few months.
In court documents TMZ obtained on Wednesday, October 2, Ariel Mitchell-Kidd told a judge her client has become extremely difficult to work with. Their working relationship has deteriorated due to English's "tone and lack of respect" and her tendency to impose conflicting instructions. Mitchell-Kidd said her client's "continued behavior and self-destructive activities" have left her no choice but to cut ties.
For the unfamiliar, Adria English, formerly known as porn star "Omunique," filed a lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs in July for allegedly coercing her into performing sex acts on his clientele during his White Parties as part of an alleged sex trafficking scheme. She claimed Combs hired her as a dancer for his parties. Eventually, she claimed the embattled artist encouraged her to drink alcohol laced with ecstasy and flirt with his famous friends. English said she didn't start off doing any sexual favors, but that changed later down the line after Diddy allegedly "groomed" her. Combs' attorneys denied the claims and accused her of filing false police reports.
“Less than three months after filing her lawsuit against Sean Combs, Adria English has been dropped by both of her attorneys after making completely fabricated statements," a rep for Combs' legal team told TMZ. "In papers filed with the court today, her former attorneys cited Ms. English’s 'questionable antics' and 'undermining behavior.' As we’ve said from the start, anyone can file a lawsuit without proof — and this case is a clear example of that. English escalated things by filing false police reports and making baseless claims, using high-profile events as a backdrop to harm innocent people. No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone."
Mitchell-Kidd plans to bow out of English's case. However, she asserts her former client still has time to find new representation without hurting her case.
