Shane McMahon, the son of longtime WWE chairman Vince McMahon, suffered a torn quad while making a surprise return at night two of WrestleMania 39 Sunday (April 2) night, his brother-in-law, WWE chief executive officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, confirmed during his post-event press conference.

McMahon appeared in a segment in which he challenged The Miz to an impromptu match before experiencing an apparent leg injury, at which point hip-hop legend and WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg improvised to knockout The Miz.

“Miz [and] Snoop, unfortunately Shane tearing his quad early in the match, and not that it was gonna be a long match probably, but going down with a torn quad, my hat’s off to Snoop, just picking it up and, ‘Oh, man, he’s hurt? Alright, I’ll fix that,” Triple H said via Yahoo.com. “He’s a natural-born entertainer."

McMahon hadn't appeared on WWE television since the Men's Royal Rumble match in January 2022 and was reported to have been "quietly let go" by the company shortly after, the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported at the time.

The 53-year-old returned at No. 28 in the 2022 Men's Royal Rumble match before being eliminated by eventual winner Brock Lesnar and was reported to be in WWE's plans for WrestleMania 38 last April, as well as the buildup to the annual event, before his departure.
