Hampton University isn't allowing education to fall short because of a hurricane.
University of Bahamas students have been greatly affected by Hurricane Dorian. Being displaced by the storm has left the pursuit of higher education up in the air. In an attempt to do their part in keeping #BahamaStrong, the Virginia HU is offering a free semester to their students. They announced that the Fall 2019 semester will open up at no cost with free room and board to anyone who experienced devastation.
It's no doubt a stimulating offer for attendees and University of the Bahamas President Rodney Smith, who used to be the administrative vice president and chief planning officer of the well-known HBCU. Hampton President Dr. William R. Harvey shared in a statement:
"I think this agreement is something that can be helpful to a great number of students and families, and is part of something I've tried to do my entire career — helping people to achieve and meet their goals."
Once fall passes, the students will have an option of continuing their courses at regular tuition rates.
