Serena Williams puts the "bod" in bodacious.
The star athlete effortless shined on the cover of Harper's Bazaar. The theme, appropriately entitled "The Naked Truth," designed Serena as the unedited trophy that she is. She was all-smiles styled in Stella MCartney and Tiffany & Co. jewelry, but her Ralph Lauren gown was no match against her curves as they threw a little cheek in there as an edgy touch!
With Wimbledon approaching, she's looking to score her eighth-winning title. Not only did she open up about her expectations of the semi-finals, but she showed true vulnerability when speaking on last year's controversial US Open match.
The moment an official accused the tennis professional of cheating by allegedly glancing at her coach during the game, was an outstanding personal time for Williams. Though arguing sexist injustice against his questionable call caused her her third violation of the match, she had little to no regrets.
"Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve felt a need to voice my opinion and be heard. Some may not like it, and to be honest, that’s their prerogative. I respect it. Growing up as the youngest of five girls, I learned that I had to fight for everything I wanted. And I won’t ever stop raising my voice against injustice."
She also went on to admit she started seeing a therapist after the ordeal. Serena feels it's "shameful that our society penalizes women just for being themselves," but takes pride in fighting against it whole heartedly. Being a mother to baby girl, Alexis Olympia, and having God on her side is a significant cherry on top.
Ultimately, my daughter is the reason I use my voice, the reason I picked up a racket again. Love breathes life and newfound perspective into people. It’s not about quitting when someone presents a challenge; it’s about getting up when you are down, dusting yourself off and asking, “Is that the best you got?” Because I have God with me, and I can take whatever comes my way.
Wishing you luck on your endeavors, Serena! Enjoy the entire article here.
