WXYZ Detroit caught up with a police officer who went viral for helping a homeless man.
Jill Metiva Schafer captured the rare moment while leaving Comerica Park. Stanley Nelson was seen struggling to shave as he used a puddle to watch off the razor and downspout to clean his face. That's when a Comerica employee spotted Officer Jeremy Thomas and pointed out the helpless citizen. He detailed to 7 Action News, "He had shaving cream on his hands, his coat, his face, his eyes," as Officer Thomas walked up to him. He, then, offered to help him shave.
Stanley glowed when talking about the encounter:
"What he did for me, that was alright. I really appreciate that because, you know, I'm going through my thing and I feel bad about myself, you know, but I'm gonna be alright."
Officer Thomas easily explained why he decided to take charitable action.
"Just know that this could be you at any day. Nobody is better than the other person. They may be in a better position in life, but use that opportunity to take care of somebody else when you can."
