No one is getting left behind with The United Negro College Fund's latest initiative.
UNCF is known for supporting academics behind African-American scholars. Thanks to a new partnership with Cengage, the financials of reading materials will being covered for 1,000 individuals.
NewsOne reported the mecca of digital education material offers a "Cengage Unlimited Subscription." For qualified students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities with memberships to the subscription, they can receive free textbooks through their semester.
Cengage's CEO, Michael Hansen said:
“Every student should have an equal opportunity to succeed, and having the right learning materials can have a critical impact on performance.”
Dr. Michael L. Lomax, President and CEO of UNCF added:
“We must continue to invest our time and money in better futures for young people around the country. Partners like Cengage are vitally important to this work and we are pleased to have them as an ally in helping to educate the next generation of leaders.”
The application can be found here. Seekers have until August 29th to meet the fall semester deadline. Spring semester for 2020 applications will be available November 4th.
The requirements to qualify for the program are as follows:
-HBCU student
-Must be of African descent
-Minimum 2.5 GPA
-Proof of financial need
-Essay
-Letter of recommendation
