The latest developments in R. Kelly's trial show an evolution of seriousness in his charges.
Thursday's court hearing announced the disgraced R&B singer has racked up 11 additional felony charges in sexual assault and abuse claims. But what's different about these is that he can potentially face up to 30 years in prison for four of these new allegations.
Though the 52-year-old continues to denied his role in such acts, it hasn't stopped victims from coming forward. According to the Chicago Sun Times, court documents tell of "four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual assault by force, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against a victim between the ages of 13 to 16."
One One specific victim was listed in the records as "J.P," who in February's filing. She claims she was forced to engage in sexual activity with Kelly between May 2009 to January 2010. The description goes on to say the encounters were by force using threats on the then-16-year-old's life.
