Last night, Geoffrey Owens made his return to TV as a senator on Tyler Perry's “The Have and Have Nots,” after being shamed for working at Trader Joe’s. Owens describes the character he is playing as "incredible."
According to Good Morning America, the 57-year-old goes on to say:
“I don't think that's ever happened to me before. I'm really proud and excited to be part of his world, basically. He's so inspiring."
Off the bat, Tyler has Geoffrey appearing in 11 episodes because he understands firsthand what he's going through and admits, "I’m the guy for the underdog.”
With the belief that no job is better than the other, Tyler admires Geoffrey’s willingness to do what it takes to provide for his family. Forever a student, Perry confesses that he’s also learning from Owens, who actually taught acting at Yale University.
Go Geoffrey!
"The Haves and Have Nots” airs Tuesday nights on OWN at 9/8c.
